Young Enterprise Scotland Regional Finals

On Thursday 21st March, 2 teams from Berwickshire High School competed against Earlston High School students in the Young Enterprise Finals. The first team were Inksplash who created Christmas Cards of local scenes enhanced with AI technology to give them a Christmas look and feel. The second team were Books N’ Brews who created a ‘blind date with a book’.

The teams represented Berwickshire High School in a mature manner and showed off how hard they had worked through taking part in an interview and a presentation in front of a panel of judges. The event was a great success with judges commenting on how well both teams had created and developed their businesses. The night concluded with the prize giving, with Books N’ Brews taking the majority of the awards. They won 6/9 awards which included:

  • Best Business Report
  • Most innovative Company
  • Best Digital Presence
  • Best Interview
  • Most Sustainable Company
  • Company of the Year (Borders)

Winning the ‘Company of the Year’ award means they won the overall Borders competition. Books N’ Brews now go to the Scottish Young Enterprise finals at Hampden at the end of May to compete against teams from across Scotland.

Thank you to the business mentors Sarah Mathieson and Katrina Reynolds who guided the teams through the many challenges of the company programme. Also, a massive well done to both teams who throughout the year have shown great entrepreneurship!
