The school pastoral system ensures that every child has an identified adult who has specific responsibility for them in school and who liaises closely with home. We call this person the student’s Guidance Teacher. Guidance Teachers are responsible for the pastoral care of all students in their ‘House’ (Douglas, Home or Scott). They are supported in their work by Student Support Assistants (SSAs).
Guidance Teachers also work closely with external partners and agencies, including Educational Psychologists, Social Work, and Skills Development Scotland.
Once a week, Guidance Teachers teach students in personal and social education (PSE) lessons.
